Phase two: Spring and Summer 2005
Enter Taiyo - Spring and Summer 2005
One day rainy day in late March 2005 I was at Wakefield music. The only other customer was a kid my age dressed in a blue vintage blazer with a haircut out of the 1970s. Of course we got to talking, and it turned out he was a drummer looking for a band. His name was Taiyo.
Once we had Taiyo our weird outfit was complete - I probably couldn't have picked three more contrasting personalities who also wanted to play grunge rock - yet it somehow worked, for a while.
As a band, we took off between April and June 2005. We had rehearsal regulalrly, booked shows at the Living Room, URI and, of course, JONAH.
By late April we were already hard at work on recording an EP and writing new songs, such as 'Got Me' and 'Easy.' These were the golden months for Short Wave.
Empty Glasses (the Amps cover)
An ultra-lo-fi recording of Empty Glasses by the Amps. This was a staple for our shows and one of our favorite songs to play - unfortunately this (and one live recording) of it are the only evidence that remains of it. This was recorded on a cassette voice recorder at rehearsal in April 2005.
